Leica has finally come full circle. The luxury German brand has reopened its doors and reinstated its very first home in Singapore — at the refurbished Raffles Hotel with a brand new experiential retail concept. Step into the store and be greeted by its camera display featuring its fleet of iconic cameras. Take a gander and admire the line of photos hung on walls, before setting your eyes on Leica’s very first line of wristwatches in South East Asia — marking its first incursion into the watchmaking industry.
In yet another display counter is Leica’s special edition Leica M x Royal Selangor collaboration that is crafted with pewter and silver, and will only be available at the Leica Store Raffles. If you have a penchant for all things sparkly, you’ll be happy to know that there are new jewellery pieces on display with faint references to the iconic Leica camera.
To promote the arts and culture landscape, a gallery space has been set aside to share the passion for photography through the lenses of different Leica exhibitions over the years from local and international talents. That’s not all. The new store also debuts Café Leitz in Singapore, with its first being in Wetzlar, Germany. As part of the brand’s signature F&B outpost, the cafe offers a comfortable premise where customers can linger over a variety of coffees and petit fours. An enticing spot to unite the photography community, that’s for sure.
Wanderlust by Thomas Hoepker is currently on exhibition from 7 December 2018 – 5 March 2019.
